The Intel Core i5-13600K established itself as one of the greatest value CPUs in recent memory, packing 14 cores with 20 threads and a 5.1GHz boost clock on LGA 1700 at $319. Its combination of 6 P-cores and 8 E-cores delivered gaming performance within spitting distance of processors costing twice as much. The unlocked multiplier allowed for meaningful overclocking headroom on Z690 and Z790 motherboards. Multi-threaded performance rivaled the previous generation's i9-12900K, demonstrating the rapid pace of improvement in Intel's hybrid architecture. Power consumption remained reasonable, manageable with a quality mid-range tower cooler. DDR4 compatibility via appropriate motherboards kept system costs low.
